Bandung Police Chief Commissioner Pol. Kusworo Vibowo told a press conference at the Bandung police headquarters on Tuesday that the MTS suspect was growing marijuana trees in his yard in Majalaya District, Bandung Region, West Java.
“The Bandung police managed to solve a case of planting marijuana seeds grow marijuana in the form of 20 trees on February 7, 2024,” Kusworo said.
According to Kusvoro, the MTS suspect planted marijuana for two years. The suspect received marijuana seeds from one of his friends in 2021.
“Then sit down hemp seeds it is in the yard of his house. It turned out that he cultivated it for three or four months, then re-sowed in several places until as many as 20 hemp trees grew,” he said.
He further testified that from the suspect’s confession, during the two years he planted and harvested marijuana trees, he only consumed them personally and did not sell them.
However, Kusworo said, his party will continue to conduct further investigations into the arrest of the suspect and the successful collection of marijuana cultivation evidence.
“We are continuing to verify information about whether he ever sold it, or whether there were parties who bought the marijuana plants that the suspect grows,” he said.
According to him, the case was solved based on public reports, then surveillance was conducted until it was finally solved.
“Based on initial information, an investigation was conducted and within about two weeks, the investigation led to the arrest of the suspect,” Kusworo said.
As a result of these actions, the MTS suspect was charged under Article 114 of Law No. 35 of 2009 on narcotics with the threat of imprisonment for up to 20 years.
