TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya will deploy 7,706 joint National Police and TNI personnel to provide polling station security or TPS with Elections of 2024. Thousands of joint staff will be deployed across Polda Metro Jaya’s jurisdiction.
This was announced by Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief Inspector General Inspector General Karioto during the TPS 2024 roll call of security forces. “On the occasion of this roll call, 7,706 combined personnel were ready, including 6,506 Polri personnel and 1,200 TNI personnel,” Karioto said at the National Monument Cross Field, Central Jakarta, Tuesday 13 February 2024
TNI Major General Pangdam Jaya Muhammad Hasan was also present at this rally. Senior officials of Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya also attended the roll call today for the changeover of TPS security forces.
He said his staff would also be alerted to ensure emergency security during the voting and counting process. Carioto has reminded his thousands of employees not to overreact if TPS sites escalate.
“So coordinate with TNI members, interested party related persons as well as elements of the society to reduce the rise in political temperature at the polling stations,” he said and advised them to maintain the neutrality of the National Police institute.
According to him, there are at least 65,495 TPP locations that will be under protection. Tens of thousands of TPSs were divided into three categories, he said: less vulnerable, vulnerable and highly vulnerable.
“There are 64,333 less vulnerable TPS, 976 vulnerable TPS and 21 highly vulnerable TPS,” he said. Karioto also stated that the joint security service of the TPS will guard and protect the ballot boxes from the TPS to the KPU office.
